McCaffery sounded upset that North Dakota was being overly aggressive when Iowa had the game well in hand. The final straw was a steal and a layup (that was waved off) at the buzzer.

The anger hadn’t subsided by the time McCaffery held his postgame news conference.

Making the situation even more awkward: North Dakota is coached by former Iowa assistant Brian Jones, and one of Jones’ assistants, Jeff Horner, played for the Hawkeyes.
