The 2014 IPL auctions did spring up a lot of surprises with some teams taking the auction by the scruff of the neck while others going with their tried and tested strategy. Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians retained the maximum five payers and went into the auction with a very truncated purse, Delhi Daredevils – the two-time wooden spooners – aimed at a total revamp of their team going in with zero retentions and the maximum purse of Rs 60 crores....

The 46-year-old Inzamam guided Afghanistan to the Super 10 stage of the recent World Twenty20 in India, during which they defeated eventual champions West Indies. He had a contract with the Afghan board (ACB) until the end of the year. ACB Chief Shafiq Stanikzai said he had received a request from his Pakistan Cricket Board counterpart Shaharyar Khan to release the former batting great from his contract. “Today Shaharyar Khan called me and asked a favour to release Inzamam-ul-Haq as they are keen to hire him,” Stanikzai told reporters....

The IOC announced on Monday that it is recommending athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus — one of Russia’s few allies during its attack on Ukraine — be excluded from international competition. It also said that if it is not possible to do this, international sports federations and other sports organizers should ensure neither Russian nor Belarusian athletes are able to compete under the name of their home nation, and instead, individual athletes or teams should be considered neutral....

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Friday unanimously upheld its ban on Russian athletes competing at international competitions due to state-sponsored doping. Russia has cried foul over the ban and President Vladimir Putin said he hoped for an “appropriate response” from the IOC. Coates said he would be “very, very surprised” if the IOC moved to overturn the ban at a summit on Tuesday in Lausanne, where the Olympic body is due to discuss the matter....

TOKYO (Reuters) - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has called on Tokyo to show a sense of urgency about finalising its budget for the 2020 Summer Games, noting that costs will continue to increase the longer it takes At an open meeting for a four-party working group that includes the IOC on Tuesday, Tokyo 2020 organisers vowed to keep costs below $20 billion but the Olympic authority felt even that amount was too high....

Apple provides a bit of additional information about the vulnerability on its Apple security updates webpage. Specifically, Apple says that it is a flaw that allows attackers to, potentially, utilize “maliciously crafted web content” in order to carry out “arbitrary code execution.” Apple notes that the update also improves a “memory corruption issue … with improved validation.” Correcting a Security Vulnerability It does not reveal whether this Safari vulnerability has been put into action, and exploited by attackers in the wild....

Epic Games have released a new update for the IOS version of Fortnite, which enables 120 FPS on an iPadPro 2018 models. Because of the iPad’s high refresh rate, this mode gives an extra smooth experience on this device. This update also enables the support of the thumbstick buttons in certain IOS controllers. This mode does mean that the user has to sacrifice the visual quality, dropping the resolution and fixing the visual settings at “medium”, setting it higher would equate to lower FPS, like 60 FPS at “high” and only 30 FPS at “epic”....
